# export

> Export mp4, mov, gif, webm, animated webp, a PNG sequence or an animated SVG.

| Option | Description |
| - | - |
| `--format <mp4\|mov\|gif\|webm\|webp\|png-sequence\|svg>` | Container. Required; the output extension is not read. `svg` takes none of the options below. |
| `--backend <auto\|cpu\|gpu\|browser>` | Where frames are drawn. `auto` (default) uses the GPU, through an installed Chrome, Edge, Brave or Chromium, when that's faster, and the CPU otherwise. `gpu` and `cpu` force one; `browser` renders in a tab you open. |
| `--tier <draft\|review\|final\|master>` | Encoder quality tier. |
| `--quality <0..100>` | Encoder quality. Default 85. |
| `--supersample <1..4>` | Render at a multiple of the output size and downsample. |
| `--alpha <preserve\|flatten>` | Keep transparency (mov, webm, webp, png) or flatten onto `--flatten-color`. |
| `--flatten-color <#RRGGBB>` | Colour to flatten transparency onto. |
| `--codec <name>` | Override the codec for the chosen format. |
| `--start <tick> --end <tick>` | Export a tick range instead of the whole document. |
| `--step <ticks>` | Ticks between frames. Default: one frame at the document's frame rate. |
| `--parallelism <n>` | Worker threads for frame rendering. |
| `--max-dimension <px>` | Bound the longer side of the output. |
| `--full-resolution` | Render at the document's size. Conflicts with `--max-dimension`. |
| `--progress-preview <file.png>` | Where to write the progress sheet. |
| `--no-progress` | Don't write a progress sheet. |
| `--no-verify` | Skip decoding the result to verify it. |
| `--no-audio` | Leave out the document's [sound](/authoring/audio). |

## Examples

Progress with an estimate prints to stderr. A JSON result with the output path, frame count and verification status prints to stdout.
